Comedians Rick Vos and Bonnie McFarlane brought a night of laughs to Manville last year, which is why the Manville Police Benevolent Association is bringing the two back for its comedy night this year.
The Manville Policeman Benevolent Association Local 236 will once again host a fundraising comedy night, on Oct. 22 at Rhythms of the Night on South Main Street, with Mr. Vos and Ms. McFarlane headlining the event. Seating for the show begins at 7 that night, and the show will start at 8.
Those interested in purchasing tickets can call Patrolman Nick Franzoso at 908-256-9273.
Proceeds from the show will go toward programs the PBA supports each year, including scholarships, food drives, donations to other PBAs, and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
”Everything that we bring in usual ends up going back to the community,” Patrolman Franzoso said.
Mr. Vos and Ms. McFarlane, both of Hillsborough, have made appearances on Comedy Central, “Opie and Anthony,” and “Last Comic Standing,” to their credit, in addition to appearing at last year’s show.
”They are both pretty popular comedians,” Patrolman Franzoso said. “That’s why we approached them. They were actually our comedians that came last year, and we had so much good feedback last year that we decided to bring them back.”
In addition to the comic’s local appeal, both Mr. Vos and Ms. McFarlane tailor the shows to the crowds attending, often on the spot, Patrolman Franzoso said.
”They are very good at adapting to the crowd,” Patrolman Franzoso said. “We had family members there who were as old as my parents to 20-year-olds, and they were all laughing. You really didn’t have much down time from the crowd. People were just enjoying themselves.”
Since Rhythms offers food and will have live music after the show, those attending can make a night of the event.
”It’s a fundraiser, and you can make a complete night of it,” Patrolman Franzoso said. “You come, have dinner, seen a comedian, and see a band.”
