Holt-Sipprelle Debate: 12th District incumbent Rep. Rush Holt and Republican challenger Scott Sipprelle will hold their first public debate at 11:45 a.m. in Rider University’s Sweigart Auditorium in the Anne Brossman Sweigart Hall (College of Business Administration). ‘Eyes on Mercer’: The Artists’ Network, a project of Lawrenceville Main Street, is supporting "Eyes on Mercer," the countywide celebration of local arts, culture and history taking place from Oct. 5-17, organized by the Mercer Country Cultural and Heritage Commission. The Lawrenceville Artists will host three events at their Gallery, 2683 Main Street: "Through the Eyes of Butterflies," Oct. 15, 7 to 9 p.m., workshop for kids to create a mask or decorate their own T-shirt, led by Tiffany Wilner, $5; "Rain Barrel Painting Demonstration," Oct. 17, noon to 2 p.m., Network member artists will be painting rain barrels outside the Gallery, free; "Unleash Your Inner Artist!" Pipesounds: The Lawrenceville School’s historic Woods Family Organ will sing again at a free concert, open to the public, in the School’s Edith Memorial Chapel, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Performing will be renowned musician Joan Lippincott, professor emerita of Organ at Rider University’s Westminster Choir College and former Princeton University principal organist. She will play works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Aaron Copland, William Mathias, Olivier Messiaen, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Charles-Marie Widor. This concert will be given in celebration of the Lawrenceville’s School’s Bicentennial anniversary. The Woods Family Organ was restored this year by Orgues Letourneau Limitee.

This semi-autobiographical novel depicts the formative years in the life of Stephen Dedalus, a fictional alter ego of Joyce and a pointed allusion to the consummate craftsman of Greek mythology, Daedalus.
