U13 wildcats reach Columbus tournament semifinals

The Lawrence Wildcat U13 travel soccer team reached the semifinals of its Columbus Day Tournament after winning its flight.
Lawrence opened with a 3-0 win over the YMS Tornadoes, as Nora Burrows, Yasmin Rubio and Christine Scott scored goals. That was followed by a 1-0 win over the Solebury Strikers on a Chloe Revak scored the lone goal. In game three, Hannah Zoll, Katie O’Reilly, Burrows and Rubio had goals in a 4-0 win over Hamilton. The semifinals featured a heart-breaking, 2-1 overtime loss to the YMS Wildfire, as Revak scored off an assist from O’Reilly.
The defense, had three shutouts, was led by Anna Benvignati, Hailey Andrew, Raven Linton, Madison McDonald and Jackie Drury. Sammy Schattin and Kathryn Svoboda created many opportunities in midfield, while Abby Smith and Courtney Arch made several key saves in goal.
The Blazers U9 team had a strong showing at the Arbey Columbus Day Tournament at Mercer County Park. Goalkeepers Jason Lobben and Gavin Bedell were outstanding while Luke Bidle and Alex Hatfield blocked a number of shots. Matt Kildea and Ryan Sargent each scored goals and Vinnie Giangrasso was creative at striker. Max Crouthamel, Robbie Lynch, Jude Bidle and Luke Okupski also had strong performances.
The U9 Tornadoes reached the midpoint of the season with a 4-2-2 record and a recent strong showing at the Arbey Hudson Hamilton Columbus Tournament, where they went 1-2-1. The two losses were both 1-0 setbacks while the win and tie came against the Battle of Monmouth in which Kelli Collins, Grace Neuger and Zoe Lang had goals off crosses from Kaitlyn Maloney and Jayne McGrath. Ashleigh Patasnick and Gracye Hughes played aggressively to support the front line while the defense was led by Alexa Lepold, Katie Ossowski and Kleio Scully. The goaltending was shared by Lang, Charu Jain, Lilly Koslowske and Mia White.
Collins leads the team with six goals, while Neuger and Lepold have three each, followed by Malone (2), McGrath, Lang and Patasnick (1 each).
