Just in time for the holidays, Gallery At Verde in Kingston, off Route 27 between Eno Terra Restaurant and the D&R Canal, will provide a fresh venue for acclaimed regional artists, and those beyond. The newly constructed gallery becomes part of The Artists’ Collective at Verde. Guest artists, with runs of 4-5 weeks, will find generous space — enough room to present a representative exhibit of one’s work.
The gallery’s co-directors, Joanna Tully and Tasha O’Neill, officially launch the new space Nov. 7. Featured will be photographer Thomas Francisco’s series, “Sticks & Stones.” Mr. Francisco’s career spans 38 years as a creative within the areas of graphic design, photography, and the fine arts. Among his clients: Geoffrey Beene, Johnson & Johnson, Lenox China, Macy’s, Mikasa, & Verizon. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors.
“Showcasing critically noteworthy art is essential to maintaining a healthy art scene,” says Gallery at Verde’s founder, Joanna Tully. Although both Ms. Tully and co-founder Tasha O’Neill are photographers, they are seeking artists of varied disciplines. “Photography is our first love,” says Ms. O’Neill. “But showcasing art of the highest caliber is our goal. To do that, we will present painters, sculptors, photographers, and more.”
Ms. Tully, a fine art and professional commercial photographer, inspired by the beauty of the D&R Canal, thought that the inclusion of a Gallery within the Artists’ Collective at Verde would provide an element for reflection and inspiration. When she floated the idea to Eno Terra’s owners, Carlo and Raoul Momo, they were immediately supportive. It offers restaurant guests the opportunity to combine a fine dinner at Eno Terra with an Art Show and some holiday shopping.
Also in Gallery at Verde’s first show is the work of Kingston artist Flannery O. Miller. Ms. Miller’s art deals with identity and time. Fascinated by machines that function in ways similar to specific bodily organs, and using paint and pencil, she creates images that challenge the viewer.
Gallery at Verde will offer fine art for sale, as well as prints, cards, and Vintage Art c. 1750-1905. The Vintage Collection will include digitally restored posters, photographs, and lithographs.
Gallery at Verde is housed inside the Verde Artists’ Collective, in the landmark Woodwinds building, 4492 Route 27, Kingston.
