POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Oct. 21

   A motorist pulled up to the pump at the Route 1 Exxon gas station and asked for a full tank of gasoline at 7:40 p.m. Oct. 16, police said. The attendant filled up the tank with $55 worth of gasoline, and the motorist drove off without paying.

   A 14-year-old girl was charged with shoplifting for taking a pair of earrings, valued at $12, from the J.C. Penney department store at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 7:07 p.m. Oct. 15, police said.
   A store loss prevention officer saw her put the earrings inside a Victoria’s Secret shopping bag. The girl was released to her mother’s friend.

   Desirae Pack, 19, of Baltimore, Md., was charged with shoplifting for taking a pair of gray leggings, worth $14, from the J.C. Penney department store at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 8:32 p.m. Oct. 13, police said.
   A store loss prevention officer watched her take the item into the fitting room, police said. When she came out of without the leggings, the loss prevention officer searched the fitting room. The leggings were discovered inside her purse. She was released on a summons.

   Richa Sharma, 33, of Kendall Park, was charged with shoplifting at 6:20 p.m. Oct. 13 at the J.C. Penney department store at the Quaker Bridge Mall, after a store loss prevention officer saw her conceal a necklace inside her hand, police said. The necklace was valued at $28.
   She was issued a summons and released.

   A Slack Avenue resident reported the theft of two bicycles, worth a combined $400, from the front porch of her home between 11 p.m. Oct. 12 and 3 a.m. Oct. 13, police said. The bicycles, which were not locked, were recovered several hours later in front of the Lucky 7 delicatessen on Princeton Avenue.

   A Sony car radio, worth $100, was stolen from a 1995 Ford van belonging to a Lawrence resident while it was parked at the Pathway Car Care Center on Princeton Avenue, police said. The theft occurred between 9:36 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. Oct. 11. The thief broke the driver’s side window to gain entry.

   A shoplifter escaped with a shirt, a pair of jeans and a hoodie sweatshirt, worth a combined $143.50, from the Pacific Sunwear store at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 11, police said.
   The store manager saw a man trying on clothing in a fitting room, police said. When the man asked her to re-open the door to the fitting room, she noticed a Pacific Sunwear shirt inside a Dollar Tree shopping bag.
   After the man left, she checked the fitting room and found sensors and security tags from Pacific Sunwear clothing. She tried to stop him, but he fled.

   A burglar tried unsuccessfully to pry open the rear door of the East Coast Kawasaki business on Brunswick Pike between 7:30 a.m. Oct. 10 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11, police said. There were pry marks at the top of the door and near the handle, but no entry was made.

   Anamika Patel, 30, and her mother, Daxa Patel, 50, both of North Brunswick Township, were charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property at Macy’s at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 8:07 p.m. Oct. 9, police said.
   A store loss prevention officer saw the women pick up some jewelry and put it in the cargo area of the baby stroller that Anamika Patel was pushing, police said. They also went into the children’s department and selected clothing that they placed in the cargo area of the baby stroller, police said.
   The women were also observed selecting clothing and entering the fitting room, and emerging without the items police said. The fitting room was checked, but there was nothing in it except price tags and security sensors.
   After the women were stopped for shoplifting, Anamika Patel said there were more stolen items inside their car parked at the mall, police said. Inside the car were items from Macy’s valued at $316.90 and items from the Sears department store worth a combined $829.47 — in addition to the $2,027.15 worth of items they had stolen from Macy’s before they were stopped.
   The mother and daughter were issued summonses and released.
