On Oct. 31, children of all ages are invited to participate in the annual Lambertville Halloween Parade.
Cheryl Pittore, Muriel Meserve and Sharon Burd are serving as parade coordinators.
Registration will be in Mary Sheridan Park, York Street, beginning at 2 p.m. All participants must register and receive their number prior to 2:45 p.m.
Participants will register in the category that best fits their costumes or entries. The categories include: Historic, Fictional Characters, Comic, Original, Fancy Dress, Classic Halloween, Patriotic, Impersonations, Duos and Group. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places in each category.
In addition, there will be special prizes: Best in Parade, Most Creative, Most Artistic, Most Patriotic, Best Representation of a Famous Person, Best Representation from Movies or TV, Best Use of Recycled Materials, Best Homemade Costume and the Dorothy Kitchen Memorial Prize. The parade will assemble at 2:45 p.m. on York Street and step off promptly at 3 p.m. The marchers will proceed west along York Street, turn right, march up North Union Street to Perry Street. They will continue east on Perry Street and cross Main Street.
Judging will be held on the Little League Field. Only parade participants will be allowed inside the Little League fence. All spectators are invited to sit on the bleachers and observe from outside the fence. Refreshments and a Halloween treat will be available for all participants at the conclusion of the parade around the field.
Prize winners will be posted at City Hall in the late afternoon on Nov. 1. The names of the prize winners will be published in The Beacon. All winners must claim their prize by bringing their number to City Hall before Nov. 26.
This parade is made possible through donations received from area organizations and businesses. Anyone wishing to assist with registration or organization should call either Ms. Meserve at 397-1214 or City Hall at 397-0110.
In case of rain, all activities will take place in the All-Purpose Room of the Lambertville Elementary School at the times noted.
— Trick or Treating will take place starting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 31.
North Union Street will be closed from York to Buttonwood Streets to all traffic. All cars parked on North Union Street prior to the start of Trick or Treating will be permitted to move only in the event of an emergency. Residents are encouraged to move their vehicles prior to the street closure, because they may not be able to move cars for safety reasons, once trick-or-treating starts. The street will reopen at 9 p.m.
