Consider flex township hours

Debra Johnson, candidate for mayor
Without question, a successful government is one that listens to and communicate with the citizens it serves.
Citizens should be welcomed to the township meeting and should be given insight into how government is run.
During my administration, the department heads as well as the township manager were required to supply quarterly reports that would be shared with the public during a quarterly meeting televised on Channel 3. This initiative should have been continued.
Government should be accessible to the public. Many of us work long hours and cannot get to the municipal building between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
My running mate, Jean Dvorak, has suggested that flex hours should be investigated to see if it would be workable to have certain days of extended hours so that South Brunswick residents could have their township issues addressed without having to take a day off.
I also believe that a review of the employee work plan may address layoff days when none of us can have access to municipal services.
We are an important and critical period of our history has a community.
I hope you have an opportunity to make it to the polls on the first Tuesday in November, Nov. 2.
