Providing quality food at low price is the business mantra at Maestro 206, a new restaurant on Route 206 South, owners said.
"One of the comments at CoccoLa was that the prices were too high," Maestro 206 Co-owner Romin Patel said. "We decided to have competitively priced dinners."
"We have an array of things on our menu from the regular hamburgers and sandwiches to Tandoori chicken with Basmati rice," he added.
The restaurant, which had its grand opening recently, features a main dining room, a bar and lounge area, a banquet area and a patio with outdoor dining, Mr. Patel said.
The bar and lounge area will also serve as a place to watch sports, since Mr. Patel and his co-owner, Tapan Das, felt Hillsborough lacked a place to watch games.
"We also saw Hillsborough is missing a sports bar or lounge," Mr. Patel said. "There was no where in town to watch the sporting matches. We converted our lounge to into a sports bar."
Mr. Patel and Mr. Das both have backgrounds in hospitality, with Mr. Das owning Tasty Cafe diner in Woodbridge, and Mr. Patel managing a Holiday Inn Express. The experiences at the diner and the hotel alleviated some of the concerns about opening a restaurant in a recession, Mr. Patel said.
"We knew we were really good at food pricing, and keeping prices really low," Mr. Patel said. "We knew what we were getting into with the economy. Even though it’s bad, people still want to go out. That kind of prompted us to come up with a menu that is something they will pay for right now."
In addition to the sports nights, Mr. Patel hopes to host comedy nights, live bands, and other events. If finances permit, he hopes to add sushi to the menu at a later date, he added.
"I definitely think it brings in a place to go in Hillsborough where you can expect different things," he said. "It’s not just the same thing, it’s something people don’t have to go to Bridgewater for."
