The Crossroads Football Team defeated the Franklin Warriors, 24-14, in a driving rainstorm.
The Vikings scored on their first two possessions and never looked back.
Dontae’ Strickland scored three touchdowns while Skyler Sciandra ran back a kickoff for another score.
South Brunswick received excellent two-way efforts from Zaire Gibson, Justus Dashields, Armir Johnson and Josh Nicastro. Jake Penney had a strong game on defense.
"I was proud of our boys coming off a tough loss to Southern Regional," coach Jake Rodriguez said. "We’re not used to losing around here so we challenged the boys this week and they responded."
Crossroad had a 22-game winning streak snapped last week.
Travel soccer
The South Brunswick Soccer Club’s U-14 Fire fought the Monroe Wild and a strong wind to a 1-1 tie.
Joe Mastro scored the Fire’s only goal in the game’s second minute, but Harrison Welsher, Ryan Cauley, Kyle Ferry, Tyler Bourdon and Matt Cannon pressured Monroe throughout much of the contest.
Nick Marna, Ramy Badawy, Sean Louhisdon and Alexi Rissiotis played outstanding defense, and Harrison Kudwitt and Corey Gorelick were solid in goal.
The U14 Asteroids continued their winning ways, topping Woodbridge 3-1. Nicholas Libassi scored an unassisted goal midway through the first half while goalie John Burke turned aside several shots.
Mike Wijesinghe’s stellar defense on a Woodbridge break way allowed the Asteroids to hold the lead at half.
In the second half, the Asteroids got a goal from Aakash Muthu off a Libassi assist, and Elijah Suggs drilled home a shot on assists by Adam Booker and Muthu.
The Asteroids strong defense was led by Steve Sandoli, Dan Spivak, Sharat Durbhakula and Miles Anglin.
