Halloween parade set

MONROE – The Monroe Township Mothers Club and Monroe Township Recreation Department will hold the annual Halloween parade for township residents at the Monroe Township Community Center rink Saturday, Oct. 23.
Parade lineup and registration will be at 10:30 am. Judging will be at 10:45 a.m. Anyone arriving after 10:45 a.m. will not be judged, but will be welcome to participate in the parade that follows at 11 a.m. and for refreshments,
The parade route starts from the Monroe Township Community Center, goes down Sheffield Avenue, turns left on Forrest Park Terrace, then left on Throop Avenue, makes another left on to Drexel Terrace, then a right back on Sheffield Avenue and returns to the center.
Ten trophies will be presented per division for the best costumes. Costumes can be scary, pretty, funny, characters, original, animals, etc.
Divisions include:
Baby Buggy – All babies in carriages and strollers.
Toddler – Walking up to 2 years old.
Preschool – 3- and 4-year-olds.
Kindergarten.
First and second graders.
Third- and fourth-graders.
Fifth-graders and older.
Floats – All other wheels: First, second and third-place, no category.
Best of Show – One trophy awarded to the best costume of the day.
Refreshments will be served after trophy presentations.
