Brazil stormed back from a 3-1 deficit to tie China, 3-3, as Brielle Samuels led the way with two goals. Chloe Brensinger scored the other goal while Aditi Agarkhed, Natalie Klek and Grace Raterman added assists. Morgan Slutzky anchored the defense with help from Alexis Rhodes and Sanjana Inamdar. For China, Karolina Zachor and Gabby Bieniasz each collected a goal and an assist, while Alexandra Covello also scored and Simone Williams recorded an assist.
Brazil was shut out, 5-0, to Germany as Jaylah Samuels and Brielle Samuels provided great hustle.
England and USA tied for the second time this season, 3-3, as Caroline Bohra, Becca Altman and Mendez sisters, Sharon and Jennifer hustled throughout. Maggie Toole, Shalini Ramaswamy and Sarah Fox played strong defense, while Melissa Rothenberg maneuvered the ball well. USA’s Emma Wilcox, Josie Crafford and Sarah Tennant created several opportunities and midfielders Brooke, Brynna and Brea Zellner – the Z Cubed sisters – switched fields to strengthen the attack. Defenders Shannon Erkoboni and Maggie Zhou worked tirelessly to preserve the draw. GIRLS 9-10
Madison Miller’s penalty kick late in the fourth quarter helped Sweden earn a 5-5 tie with Canada. Sweden’s second-half rally was sparked by goal from Miller, Lydia Wilcox and Ragavi Raman. Sweden came from behind gain on Sunday in a 5-4 win over New Zealand thanks to Heidi Turner’s hat trick along with single tallies from Miller and Angela Pursell. Victoria Pirozzi and Danielle Gershen provided excellent goalkeeping over both games. GIRLS 7-8
The Boston Breakers were anchored by goalies Sarah DeFalco, Joelle D’Angelo and Ashley Moore, while Naana Acheampong played strong defense and Sierra Steinberg, Shawne Hoehne, and Cassie Ankener made key plays. Haley Lestician, Briana Audet, Katie Toole, Bridget Hoyt and Aluen Tomat-Kelly scored goals.
The Philadelphia Independence turned in a strong performance as Brianna Panek, Jewell Baker, and Isabela Ricardo scored goals and Emma Spadea, Kayva Singh, Emily Giuliano and Abby Duff worked tirelessly at midfield and defense. Sara Kestenbaum, Josie Settembrino and Riya Patel were strong in goal. In previous action, Giuliano, Duff, and Brianna Panek tallied goals, Spadea sparkled on defense, and Eliza Covello, Settembrino and Ricardo made fine passes. Carley West and Lily Carpinelli were fearless in goal. GIRLS 5-6
Barcelona continued to shine behind great ball control from Claire King, Isabella Timberlake, Sienna Cruz, Gianna Pangaldi and Trinity Fier. Emily Jorgensen and Ailish Humphreys provided offense and Elizabeth Medich and Taylor Foret played tight defense.
Emma Quattrochi assisted Lydia Zeleznik’s goal for Real Madrid. Kirsten Steege changed directions well and Gabrielle Short dribbled impressively.
Ava Andrew and Rebekah Gaudino demonstrated skill and energy for AS Roma, while Jacqueline Murdoch and Courtney Williams showcased their fancy footwork. Ella Rachel Lewis generated plenty of offense. BOYS 11-13
Ryan Mangan’s early goal off assists from Calvin Ankener and Sebastian Fleurmont set the tone in Uruguay’s 4-1 triumph over Ghana. Fleurmont followed with two more goals and Bryan Callejas also scored. Sam Snyder and Omar Gibbs were solid on defense for Uraguay.
Ghana bounced back from the Uraguay loss to outlast Germany, 4-3, the following day. Ghana’s Nicholas Peist paced Ghana with three goals over the weekend, while Michael Draps and Audley Clarke each contributed a goal. Angel Conde continued his strong goalkeeping. BOYS 9-10
Despite a rally from Chase Panfili, Cole Hamer, and Sal Rego in the second half, Japan fell to Holland, 5-1. Akshith Narahari, Will Castranova and Neo Mathieu Maralit were tough on defense for Japan. In Japan’s contest against Brazil, Russell Knab and Harshall Nawade covered the field well and Seamus Meagher excelled in goal. BOYS 7-8
Chelsea received tremendous efforts from Jai Council, Davin Jodoin, Matthew Laws, and Simon Cull in their game.
Danny Delongaig, Cameron Blackman, and Connor Monaghan provided the offensive firepower for Manchester United, scoring several goals apiece. Aramis Gutierrez and Manit Niwas dribbled and passed well, while Dominic Perrino and Bret Gallagher both made critical saves as goalies. BOYS 5-6
The Houston Dynamo continued its strong play behind the goal-scoring of Garrett Durso-Finley, Nate Duff, Luke Longo, Ryan Willever, Carlos Espinoza and Noah Lehrfeld. Nicholas Tonelli, Owen Drake, Yash Singh, Gavin Ireland and Zubin Gu displayed strong support through midfield and defense. Tonelli and Lehrfeld demonstrated excellent sportsmanship by volunteering to play for the short-handed other team.
Stevie Lacasse and Brody Coddington netted goals for the Philadelphia Union, while Mason Williams was a constant threat on offense and Ben Lovvoll and Ethan Wang won key tackles in the midfield.
