The Manville High School Class of 2011 is holding a Harvest Eve Festival on Saturday to get the community into the fall season spirit. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the courtyard of MHS.
Ashley Wollesen said, "I am the Cass of 2011 adviser with Stephen Sallach and we wanted to do something fun and festive for the fall season. We hope that everyone enjoys the games, prizes and baked goods. We are hoping this is a hit and that we can do it every year."
The funds that are raised from the festival will benefit the students who plan to go on the senior class trip, for the senior picnic and proms/yearbooks. De Ja Vu Disc Jockeys will be providing music and the senior class will be selling home-baked goods. There will be Sweet Jane Lynn Traditional Cake Balls and Wegmans of Bridgewater donated all the pumpkins.
Booths and activities will include a pumpkin "duck, duck, goose" game, bean bag toss game, "needle" in the haystack, face painting, ring toss, knock over the "milk cartons" (Krazy Kans) game, crafting station where students will be making jewelry with harvest-colored beads, a hula hoop contest, pumpkin picking and decorating but no carving.
There will be a $2 admission charge for the day of fun with music, Halloween candy, baked goods and hot drinks. Ticket packets for the games are $3 for 10 tickets and $6 for 25 tickets. The best value package is $8 for 35 tickets. Each activity requires tickets.
"It is open to the public. … We are gearing it more toward the younger kids and we hope everyone can make it," Ms. Wollesen said.
