POLICE BLOTTER

Lambertville and West Amwell

   Lambertville police reported:
   — Sigurdur Arnason, 29, of Lambertville is facing several charges after an incident that occurred on Oct. 11. Sgt. Robert Brown was on patrol at 11:15 p.m., when he saw a man staggering on Bridge Street. When the officer approached the man, later identified as Mr. Arnason, he began to run through traffic in order to get away. He leaped over a fence and ran into backyards on Lambert Lane. Mr. Arnason did not stop when ordered and had to be physically restrained when caught. Once taken into custody, Mr. Arnason tried to kick out the rear windows of the patrol car, damaging equipment inside the vehicle. He also kicked the sergeant, causing minor injury. Officer Joseph Weber and officers from West Amwell and New Hope came to assist. Mr. Arnason also allegedly threatened to kill the officers as he was restrained. He has been charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and aggravated assault. He was lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $5000 bail.
   — A 16 year-old juvenile from Lambertville has been charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Oct. 16. Sgt. Brown stopped a vehicle, driven by another juvenile, at 10:30 p.m. after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Routes 518 and 165. Smoke, allegedly from marijuana, was coming from the vehicle. A search determined that the juvenile passenger was in possession of suspected marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. This juvenile was later released to the mother with a pending court date.
   — A report of a chimney fire on Oct. 14 took police and fire units to a Jefferson Street house. Officer Anthony Memolo found the residence filled with smoke. The residents had safely left the house. The Lambertville Fire Department extinguished the fire before it caused major damage to the residence. It was determined that creosote had built up on an improperly installed chimney liner. The creosote ignited, “which melted the liner from the chimney, creating the fire,” police said.
