The Princeton Township Committee has followed the Princeton Borough Council in passing a resolution establishing a Joint Revaluation Study Commission with the other.
The committee passed the resolution, which updated an older version, unanimously at its Monday meeting.
The borough’s Revaluation Commission can now combine with the township’s Task Force. The borough’s commission, which was to be made up of citizens within the community to assess the criterion, methodology and results of the recent revaluation that took place in the borough, was authorized by a September resolution.
The joint commission will consist of an equal number of borough and township residents selected by the two municipal governing bodies, equaling no less than six or more than 10.
One member of each governing body will be designated as a non-voting liaison to the commission. The municipal administrators will serve as ex-officio, non-voting members and the tax assessor will be available to the commission.
Commission members will be appointed by the mayors.
The commission will be charged with exploring initiatives to help ease residents’ tax increases and burdens; review the laws as they pertain to revaulation; offer ideas for revision and solicit opinion and data from residents on the impact of the revaluation and how the process was conducted.
The commission will deliver its findings to the governing bodies 90 days from the date of the commission’s establishment or on a schedule established by the commission.
