Melinda Ponti, 50, of Robbinsville, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
Police responded to the area of West Manor Way and Patriot Drive about 11:30 p.m. on a report that a car had struck a utility pole. Upon arrival, police discovered a vehicle parked down Patriot Drive with heavy front-end damage on the driver side.
A patrol officer spoke with the driver, Ms. Ponti, and detected evidence of intoxication, police said. She failed several field sobriety tests, police said.
Christina M. Viola, 24, of Plainsboro, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to observe traffic control device.
Police said Ms. Viola’s vehicle was stopped about 2:10 a.m. after going through a red light at the intersection of Route 130 and the Robbinsville bypass road, and failing to maintain a lane while traveling north on Route 130.
A patrol officer spoke with the driver, Ms. Viola, and detected evidence of intoxication, police said. She failed several field sobriety tests, police said.
Jake A. Comfort, 23, of Lakewood, was charged Oct. 13 with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police responded to the Windsor Gulf station on Route 130 about 4 a.m. on a report of a dispute between Mr. Comfort and a tow truck driver. The matter was resolved and Mr. Comfort was to receive a ride to police headquarters to use the telephone, police said. Upon placing Mr. Comfort in the police car for transport, a patrol officer saw evidence of narcotics and recovered a small smoking pipe and a small quantity of marijuana, police said.
Police are investigating a burglary and theft at a construction trailer on Circle Drive.
A representative of IEW construction reported that between 1 p.m. Oct. 9 and 9:20 a.m. Oct. 11, someone cut the lock off three construction containers and removed construction equipment valued at $2,000, police said. Plumsted
Charles Bates Jr., 24, of Cream Ridge was charged Saturday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and distribution of a CDS.
Police said that during a motor vehicle stop at about 3:30 p.m., officers noticed several bags of what appeared to be heroin in the middle console of Mr. Bates’ car. The canine officer was contacted and the police dog Fieka made a positive indication on the engine compartment area, where officers found more than 90 more bags of heroin, police said.
Mr. Bates posted bail, which had been set at $50,000, police said.
A Freehold man was critically injured Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Route 537 and West Millstream Road.
Police said Michael Glogower, 63, was flown to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman.
The driver of the other vehicle, Wendy Digiovanni, 47, of Howell, was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.
