The long-awaited Terhune Orchards Vineyard and Winery tasting room is now open for business.
Terhune Orchards is one of the few operating farms in the Garden State with a winery and tasting room. The winery offers seven varieties of red and white wine, including an award-winning Vidal Blanc, a bronze medal winner in the 2010 New Jersey State Wine Competition.
The winery also offers an apple wine, made from Terhune Orchards apple cider.
The new tasting room at the farm is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Taste five wines for $5 ($8 with the glass). The tasting room has opened just in time for Terhune’s Fall Festival weekends, which run every weekend through Oct. 31.
Festival days promise fun for the whole family. Pick your own apples and pumpkins, paint a pumpkin, sip some hot or cold cider, and take a wagon ride around the farm. Plenty of homemade food will be available, including chili, pork sandwiches, hot dogs, cookies and donuts.
Located at 330 Cold Soil Road in Lawrence, the farm has plenty of free parking.
