CRANBURY — The township is moving some funds in its budget from items and projects no longer needed to purchase a new mason dump truck with plow for the Public Works Department.
The Township Committee voted to transfer $59,970.94 from funding set aside for now unnecessary bond ordinances to the truck at its Oct. 11 meeting.
The items and projects no longer needed include softball field repair at $10,000, a mower and snow blower for police at $6,000, tables and benches for Village Park at $2,000, a Toro lawn mower at $5,663.94, another Toro mower at $1,307 and a 60HP rubber tire tractor and loader at $35,000.
”The money is authorized to be spent,” Financial Director Denise Marabello said over a phone call. “But we need to move (the money) from the equipment to the vehicle.”
Ms. Marabello said Jerry Thorne, director of Public Works, made the decision a new truck was needed and the other items and projects were not.
