D&R Greenway Land Trust invites the public to learn how easy, beneficial and beautiful it is to integrate ecological landscaping into residential yards and gardens. D&R Greenway’s 2010 Landowners’ Forum will be held at the Johnson Education Center on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., with light refreshments served from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all. To register, call 609-924-4646.
In order to restore healthy wildlife and plant populations to New Jersey, greenways of diverse native habitat need to be encouraged and managed. Nature preserves are critically important to this effort and, surprisingly, so are residential properties. In fact, homeowners can play a key role in promoting biodiversity and protecting their local trees, birds, wildflowers and other species simply by landscaping with native plants.
Topics covered will include native wildflower and shrubs landscapes, rain gardens, deer fencing, and planting to attracting species of birds, pollinators and wildlife that will thrive in your home landscape.
Two presenters will provide case studies based on their own experience with native plants and ecological design.
The Johnson Education Center is located at One Preservation Place, Princeton, off Rosedale Road. For directions, visit www.drgreenway.org or call 609-924-4646.
