LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Feltes ably led panel

Sid Morginstin, Bordentown
I must respond to William Morelli’s letter of Oct. 21. Though I am not supporting Karl Feltes for Township Committee, I must come to his defense.
Mr. Morelli stated that Mr. Feltes did not talk about his service on the Environmental Commission in his campaign literature. In a cursory reading of the letter, one might think that Mr. Feltes did nothing. I wonder if this was Mr. Morelli’s intent. In fact, Mr. Feltes has been an effective chairperson.
Mr. Morelli was the Township Committee liaison to the Environmental Commission in 2006 and 2008. In those two years there were 18 meetings. The commission usually does not meet every month. Of those 18 meetings, Mr. Morelli was absent for 10 of them.
Had he attended, or read the minutes, Mr. Morelli would have known that Mr. Feltes most ably led the commission, and helped organize and/or participate in one or two events per year. These included various park and stream cleanups, participation in the community days and a (most recently) shredding day. Prior to his chairmanship, the commission was adrift and rudderless. It now is fully functioning.
Please let me restate that another another factor caused me to support Jim Cann for Township Committee. Basically, he will not be aligned with or under the influence of the current mayor and the mayor’s supporters on Township Committee.
