Two penalty shots would help Manville Recreation’s middle school soccer team hold a lead until Bound Brook tied the game at 3-3 with only seconds left in Saturday’s match-up.
Manville’s first goal came when Bryan Rojas put in a deflected penalty kick from teammate Froyland Suarez. Bound Brook answered back with a goal to end the first half 1-1.
Rojas put in his own penalty kick early in the second half to put Manville ahead 2-1.
Teammate Brett DeFazio widened the gap to 3-1 when he brought the ball across the field on a pass from Gabriel Barrocal. Defazio broke through Bound Brook’s defense to score.
Bound Brook came back with another goal and then tied it during a scramble in front of the Manville goal with only seconds left of play.
Kevin Murillo helped hold of the Bound Brook attack with several saves in the net.
Manville, now 2-2-0 will face Somerville on Saturday.
