Allentown residents Kelsey Carroll and Grace Lloyd will star as mother and daughter in the Peddie School’s performance of William Shakespeare’s “The Winter’s Tale” on Nov. 4, 5 and 6 at the Mount-Burke Theater in Hightstown. The public is invited to attend.
The performance, featuring the school’s upperclassmen, is a cautionary tale filled with passion, humor, love, loss, and, finally, redemption.
“The Winter’s Tale” begins with the joyful reunion of best friends Leontes, King of Sicilia, and Polixenes, King of Bohemia. The festivities quickly cease, however, when Leontes becomes irrationally jealous and falsely accuses his adoring wife, Hermione, of an adulterous affair with Polixenes. Leontes’ blind rage leads him down a path of murder and banishment.
Carroll stars as Hermione while the role of Perdita, her heroine daughter, is played by Lloyd.
The performances will be at 8 p.m. on Nov. 4, 5, and 6. Tickets may be purchased for $10 by calling the box office at 609-944-7550 or emailing [email protected].
