I recently saw a piece of campaign literature from Tom Goodwin claiming he is working for real reform for the taxpayers, but all I see is him working for millionaires throughout the state.
While Mr. Goodwin has voted to eliminate senior rebates, including the Homestead Rebate, which helps seniors stay in their homes, he was also voting against restoring the millionaire’s tax. The millionaire’s tax is an income tax for those who make over $1 million per year. The money raised helps to restore property tax rebates for more than 600,000 seniors and disabled and to head off the increases of prescription costs for seniors.
As a senior citizen on a fixed income, I feel that it is a sham that Mr. Goodwin is claiming to be reducing taxes, when in reality he is stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. As the price of goods continues to rise and our income consistently stays the same, we need a senator fighting on our side.
I want a senator who is voting with working families and senior citizens, not those who only help the rich, therefore, I will be voting no for Tom Goodwin, and yes for Linda Greenstein.
