Karabinchak holds onto Edison seat

EDISON — Democratic Councilman Robert Karabinchak will fill the one-year unexpired term on the Township Council.

The 54-year-old councilman, who was appointed to his seat last December to take the place of AnnMarie Griffin-Ussak, received 9,364 votes Tuesday. He defeated Republican Mary Lou Resner, 61, who garnered 7,229 votes.

The term runs through the end of 2011.

“I am obviously very happy,” said Karabinchak. “The turnout to the polls was phenomenal; I always like to see the people engaged.”
