The Literacy Program of New Jersey (LPNJ) will sponsor a 12-hour tutor training 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 13, 20 and Dec. 4 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.
Trainees will be taught the main principles of adult learning. The program is divided into four main areas of content: listening skills, speaking skills, reading skills and writing skills. After participants complete the course and all assignments, they receive a certificate from LPNJ and are then matched with an ESL (English as a Second Language) or ABL (Adult Basic Literacy) student/small group/conversation group or class.
