MARLBORO — Students from the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County participated in the Christian Brothers Academy 39th annual math contest on Oct. 15 in Lincroft.
The team, coached by Ballari Chatterjee and Lindsay Cohen, consisted of sixthgrader Orli Weiss, seventh-graders Ryan Goldwasser and Jonathan Krantz, and eighth-graders Ella Cooperman, Daniela Goldberger, Alexandra Kay and Jack Wisniewski.
The students participated in the one-hour contest and the top five scores formed the team’s score. The Solomon Schechter Day School team placed fourth in the private school division, and Ryan Goldwasser was awarded a certificate of excellence for his overall high score, according to information provided by the school.
More than 300 students from 40 schools participated. The contest consisted of 20 multiple-choice questions. The questions were based on eighth-grade material and they were rigorous, sometimes tricky, and required the ability to think out of the box, according to the press release.
