EDISON — Police are investigating two robberies that occurred on separate days but may be connected.
The first took place at 10:40 p.m. Nov. 12 at the 7-Eleven store on Woodbridge Avenue; the other at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Raceway Gas Station, also on Woodbridge Avenue, police said.
The suspects, described as a black male and a black female, entered the 7-Eleven and the female proceeded to purchase candy. When she and the worker went to exchange money, the male suspect went behind the counter, took out a black semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the worker. The male suspect then removed money totaling $200 from the cash register, and the suspects fled the store.
The male was described as being darkerskinned, 6 feet tall, weighing 170 pounds, having long black dreadlock hair, and wearing a black and blue knit hat and blue jeans. The femalewas described as having lighter skin, with black hair, wearing light-colored blue jeans and a gold ring on her index finger.
On Nov. 14, two suspects, also a black male and black female, entered the convenience store at the Raceway Gas Station. The female purchased fruit snacks and both then left the store. The two suspects then approached the gas attendant outside the store, and the male brandished a handgun and demanded money. The female suspect then grabbed cash, approximately $400, from the rear pocket of the victim.
The suspects in that robbery were described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall. The male had a medium build and was wearing a green jacket with a hood over his face. The male was also described as having ear and nose piercings. The female was described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and wearing a dark jacket and a black knitted hat.
