‘Coastlines’

The New Jersey coast has had a major influence on two local artists whose work is currently on exhibit at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.

“Coastlines” by Debbie Redden “Coastlines” by Debbie Redden “Coastlines,” featuring paintings by Debbie Redden and Anthony Migliaccio, consists mainly of small-scale works of the Jersey coast and from recent travels. The exhibit runs through Dec. 8 in the Main Gallery.

Redden’s watercolors and recent oils complement the acrylics and oils of Migliaccio throughout the gallery, where more than 75 paintings are on exhibit.

Redden, a lifetime resident of the Jersey Shore, paints lighthouses, boats and other scenery. The artist was a professor of methods in elementary and secondary art at Monmouth University, West Long Branch. She also is a respected elementary and secondary art teacher, and retired in 2004 from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.

Redden is a member of the Plein Air Painters of the New Jersey Coast, an associate member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society and the Garden State Watercolor Society.

Migliaccio, also a New Jersey native, began his journey in the arts in 1970 as a painter and printmaker.

In addition to many awards for his work, he recently won Best Landscape in Oils at the Audubon Artists National Show in New York. Before retiring in 2008, he was a teacher and arts administrator in New Jersey public schools and at Monmouth University.

Migliaccio is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America and an exhibiting artist member of the Audubon Artists Inc., New York City, and a signature artist member of the Noyes Museum.
