Israeli dancing lessons will be offered at Temple Beth-El, Hillsborough. The sessions will be held in the temple’s multipurpose room from 7:30 to 9 p.m., on Dec. 9 and 23, Jan. 6 and 20, and Feb. 3 and 17. The cost, which includes refreshments, is $7 per session. The Hillsborough High School Band Parents Association will hold a Barnes & Noble Book Fair from 4 to 10 p.m. Shop to the beat of the HHS small ensemble bands: 4 p.m., Flute Choir; 5 p.m., Clarinet Choir; 6 p.m., Brass Ensemble; 7 p.m., Sax Quartet. Enjoy the convenience of gift-wrapping by the HHS Color Guard. You must present a voucher at the time of purchase for the band to receive credit. Visit www.hhs-band.org to print out your voucher. United Reformed Church, 100 W. Main St. in Somerville, will host The Peter Mayer Group in a “Stars and Promises Holiday Concert,” a special fundraising event for the North Branch Reformed Church, the United Reformed Church and Middle Earth, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 908-725-2313. The two churches will use the funding to invest in social ministries that help local individuals and agencies. Middle Earth is a nonprofit that has helped local youth for almost 40 years, and the agency intends to invest its funding in their youth programs.

The Somerset Valley Players will hold auditions for “The Velveteen Rabbit” at 7 p.m. both days. Call-back date will be Dec. 15. Performance dates will be Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from Feb. 18 to March 6. Needed are males age 3 and 20 to 45 and females ages 2 and 25 to 40 and boys and girls ages 10 and older. Children’s roles are not gender specific. A babysitting course for youth ages 11 to 15 sponsored by the American Red Cross will be held on Dec. 28 and 29. Participants must attend sessions each day from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and should bring their own lunch. The cost of the course is $65.
