Home for the Holidays adoption day will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Friends of Somerset Regional Animals Shelter, 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater next to Kidstreet Park. Refreshments will be served. For approved adopters, there will be no adoption fee for adult cats, and the adoption fee for kittens will be $50. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Israeli dancing lessons will be offered at Temple Beth-El, Hillsborough. Sessions will be held in the temple’s multipurpose room from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 23, Jan. 6 and 20, and Feb. 3 and 17. A babysitting course for youth ages 11 to 15 sponsored by the American Red Cross will be held on Dec. 28 and 29. Participants must attend sessions each day from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and should bring their own lunch. The cost of the course is $65. St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church will sponsor a Slavic dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 12 in the St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd., Hillsborough. The cost is $12 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and under), and includes all-you-can-eat pirogi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, salad, dessert and beverage.
