Community Care Hospice, an affiliate of Community Visiting Nurse Association of Somerville, held its annual "Light Up A Life Ceremony: A Celebration of Life" tree lighting Tuesday evening, Dec.7, outside the agency’s front lawn.
Guests were treated to the sounds of holiday songs performed by the Hillsborough High School Choir as well as an assortment of holiday refreshments.
"Light Up A Life" is a national hospice campaign where a tree is lit in memory of or in living tribute to loved ones and friends. Lights purchased not only light up a tree, but also help to support the mission of Community Care Hospice.
"It was a beautiful and heartwarming sight to see so many people gather together at Community VNA, in front of the glistening tree, ready to honor and commemorate their loved ones by placing a red ribbon on a decorative branch," said Alyce Brophy, CEO and president of Community Visiting Nurse Association. "Indeed, our tree was filled with loving thoughts and precious memories of those who have touched our lives in so many ways."
Community Care Hospice provides care through a team of caregivers, including a medical director, registered nurses, social workers, a chaplain, home health aides and volunteers who work together to promote comfort for those facing a life-threatening illness. Donations will enable its hospice program to continue to provide comfort to those individuals in need.
