MONROE — Township police arrested Martin E. Hroncich, 23, of Manalapan last week. He is being charged with attempted murder, aggravated arson, arson, criminal mischief and stalking, authorities said.
Some of the charges filed against Hroncich are in relation to a suspicious fire from Nov. 26.
The house and vehicle fire took place on Belluscio Street, police Lt. Marc Jimenez said.
The homeowner awoke to the fire and called for assistance at 3:39 a.m. and alerted all occupants. They were able to escape without injury, and the homeowner extinguished the fire prior to the police’s arrival.
The residence as well as a Chevy S-10 pickup truck were heavily damaged by the fire, police said. The suspicious fire is being further investigated by Detective Grosser of the Monroe Township Police Department Detective Bureau.
Hroncich is being held in the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in default of $125,000 bail for aggravated arson and arson charges. Bail on the four attempted murder charges has yet to be determined, authorities said.
Similar charges against Hroncich were filed in South River this year, authorities said.
South River police deferred comment to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s office where further information was not immediately available.
