Adarsh Bajaj, 46, of Princeton, was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign. At 8:16 a.m. on Dec. 15, Ms. Bajaj failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling west on Terhune Road and struck another vehicle traveling south on Jefferson Road, police said. The impact caused Ms. Bajaj’s vehicle to flip over onto the driver’s side, where she was trapped with her dog and had to be extricated by members of the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad and Princeton Fire Department. She and the other driver, John Bynak, 67, of Princeton, were taken to the University Medical Center at Princeton for non-life threatening injuries. The uninjured dog was held by Animal Control services until the owner was released from the hospital. Traffic was diverted around the intersection for an hour. The accident is under further investigation.
West Windsor
Police are investigating a burglary and theft that occurred between 1:45 and 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Treeswallow Drive. A Hazlet resident reported that an someone entered their car and stole a cordless drill, valued at $700. There was no apparent forced entry done to the victim’s car.
Jagjiwan Sing, 50, of Burlington, was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. At 2:56 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a driver slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle at Route 1 near Meadow Road. Upon arrival, police found the vehicle was still running and detected the odor of alcohol on the driver, Mr. Sing. He was found to be intoxicated after failing a field sobriety test, police said. He was arrested and later released, pending court.
Police are investigating a theft that occurred between 1:30 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Carnegie Center Boulevard. A Bordentown resident reported that an someone stole a combined bike/ski rack from their car, valued at $600.
Jose Angel Ramirez, 27, of Riverdale, Maryland, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and reckless driving. At 2:58 a.m. on Sunday, police stopped Mr. Ramirez for careless driving on Route 1 north near Washington Road. Police found Mr. Ramirez was intoxicated after he failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested and later released, pending court.
Shanna R. Byrd, 27, of Trenton, was charged with shoplifting from Kohl’s at the Nassau Park shopping center. At 4:01 p.m. on Dec. 16, Ms. Byrd attempted to leave the store with concealed merchandise in her purse, police said. She was detained by Kohl’s employees, who found her concealing video games valued at $99.96. She was arrested and later released, pending court.
Plainsboro
An employee of the Caddyshack Bar & Grill reported a theft that occurred at 9:51 a.m. on Monday. The employee reported that two people were permitted to take scrap metal from outside of the bar, at 70 Hunters Glen Drive, but also stole two empty beer kegs. The victim estimated the total cost of the kegs at $120.
Walter A. Gilmore, 43, of Pennington, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to maintain a lane. At 11:23 p.m. on Monday, police stopped Mr. Gilmore at Scudder’s Mill Road for failing to maintain a single travel lane when they found he was intoxicated. He was arrested and later released on his own recognizance, pending court.
Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday. A resident of Ravens Crest Drive reported that the front passenger window was shattered in her vehicle, parked outside her building. Nothing was stolen. The estimated cost of the damage is $300. There are currently no suspects or leads, police said.
Amiel Chong, 26, of Piscataway, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to stop. At 4:17 p.m. on Dec. 14, during a routine patrol in the Princeton Forrestal Village, police stopped Mr. Chong for failing to stop at a stop sign when they found he was intoxicated. He was arrested and his vehicle was impounded under New Jersey’s "John’s Law." He was released on his own recognizance, pending court.
Tracy K. Hourihan, 39, of Yardville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway. At 11:50 p.m. on Friday, police traveling east on College Road East stopped Ms. Hourihan after avoiding a head-on collision with her vehicle, which was traveling west in the eastbound lane. Police arrested her after finding she was intoxicated. She was released, pending court.
Police are investigating two incidents of burglary, theft and criminal mischief at two separate residences on Tuesday on Petty Road. At 11:08 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a resident who reported that a rear window had been shattered and property was stolen from within their home. They said the residence was ransacked and the thieves were selective of the stolen items. At 1:28 p.m., police responded to a resident who also reported that their residence had been broken into, the residence had been ransacked, and selective property was stolen. The amount of the losses have yet to be determined.
Juan B. Dominguez, 23, of Philadelphia, was charged with burglary and possession of two fraudulent government identification forms. At 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress at Hunters Glen Drive. The victims reported returning home to their residence to find Mr. Dominguez in their house, who fled upon being confronted. Police located and arrested Mr. Dominguez near the residence using a physical description provided by the residents. The residents reported nothing was stolen. Mr. Dominguez was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility and held on $10,000 bail.
Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred sometime between midnight and noon on Sunday. A resident of Quail Ridge Drive reported that his tan 2003 four-door Audi A6, valued at $6,800, was stolen from the parking lot of the Quail Ridge development during the overnight hours.
Thomas A. Connolly, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and driving while intoxicated in a school zone. At 12:54 a.m. on Wednesday, police stopped Mr. Connolly at Plainsboro Road for failing to maintain a single lane of travel when they found he was intoxicated. He was arrested and later released on his own recognizance.
Montgomery
Ryan Alessandrini, 24, of Princeton, was charged with driving while suspended. At 10 a.m. on Friday, police stopped Mr. Alessandrini on Route 206 near Route 518 after recognizing him and being aware of his active traffic warrant out of Montgomery Municipal Court for $323. He was arrested and later found to have an additional $500 criminal warrant from Atlantic City Municipal Court. He posted bail on both warrants and was released, pending court.
Angela Bosnyak, 35, of Hopewell Township, was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating while suspended. At 11:01 p.m. on Dec. 14, police stopped Ms. Bosnyak on Cherry Valley Road after a registration inquiry revealed she had a suspended state license. While speaking to her, police observed she had bloodshot eyes and she admitted to having marijuana and a pipe in the car. The items were confiscated from her car during a consent search, and Ms. Bosnyak was arrested. She was released, pending court.
