The New Hope Historical Society has presented its first Distinguished Service Award to Lynn Stoner.
Ms. Stoner has been an active member of the Historical Society for decades and was the founder of the society’s annual speaker series, "Mondays at the Mansion."
In presenting the award, Edwin Hild, outgoing president, said, "Lynn has always been there when we needed her and she and her husband, Bob, have been active in many committees and events over the years. I am truly honored to be able to present the Historical Society’s first Distinguished Service Award to Lynn."
In accepting the award, Ms. Stoner noted that it has been a pleasure working with the Historical Society members over the years and concluded by saying, "I’m not going anywhere; I will continue to be part of this wonderful organization." She will continue to serve on the board of directors as director emeritus.
At the same meeting in November, the society added four new members to its board of directors. Leslie Crilley, Ralph Fey, Thomas J. Smyth and Barry Ziff were named to three-year terms. The members re-elected Roy Ziegler for another three-year term on the board.
Ms. Crilley is a Registered Client Service Associate for UBS Financial Services in Newtown, Pa., specializing in all operational and administrative functions. Prior to joining UBS she was vice president and client service manager for institutionally sized corporate accounts at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Black Rock. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina. She and her husband, Joseph and their two children reside in New Hope.
Mr. Fey, A.I.A., founded the firm of Ralph Curtis Fey Architects, based in Doylestown, Pa., in 1996. Following his education in London and Vienna, he graduated from Syracuse University. He joined the Hillier Group of Princeton, NJ, where he worked to bridge the disciplines of architecture and interior design. In 1994, Mr. Fey was appointed director of Design and Facility Planning for QVC in West Chester and spearheaded the development of its new corporate headquarters.
Mr. Smyth is a hospitality educator currently working with Kingsborough Community College, CUNY, in Brooklyn, NY. Before joining the college he was an assistant professor at New York City Technical College in the Department of Hospitality Management. Prior to that he was the executive chef and district chef manager for the British catering firm Trusthouse Forte/Gardner Merchant, now Sodexho Marriott. Since 2006, he has been inn keeper/chef/educator for The Cottage in New Hope, which provides hands-on cooking and baking classes and personal training and healthy eating courses in conjunction with New Hope Fitness.
Mr. Ziff is a longtime resident of New Hope and has been a perennial volunteer for many New Hope organizations. He is a member of the New Hope Borough Planning Commission and New Hope Borough Revitalization Committee. He previously served on the board of directors of the New Hope Historical Society where he also had been interim executive director. As a volunteer for the Historical Society he conducts many walking tours of New Hope throughout the year. Mr. Ziff was treasurer of the New Hope Partners in Progress Group until 2005. He is employed at the New Hope Visitors Center where he assists tourists in their exploration of New Hope. He and his wife, Sallie, are residents of New Hope. He will serve the society as its new treasurer.
