Hangover Run
West Windsor resident Brian Leung, a junior at Princeton University, was the top overall finisher at the Hamilton Hangover 5k Run, which was held on Saturday at Veterans Park in Hamilton. Leung covered the course in 15 minutes, 36.8 seconds to finish nearly 35 seconds ahead of Johnny Hopkins of New Brunswick. Steven Glandsburg of West Windsor finished third and Kevin Foy of West Windsor was sixth. Local residents Graham Alig of Princeton (seventh) and Jeff McKee of West Windsor (eighth) were also in the top 10.
Emily Perryman of Hamilton was the top overall female finisher in 19:44.7. Katie Kellner of West Windsor was the 10th female finisher, while her sister Caroline Kellner was the 11th female finisher.
SCT track
Rob Weimer won the 400 meters in 53.70 and the high jump in a meet-record 5-foot-11 as the Montgomery High School boys track and field team was second, 33 1/2 points behind Franklin, at the Somerset County Championships on Wednesday. Ronald Lu won the 55-meter dash in 6.50 seconds. Will Davis-Joels was third in the 55 dash and 400. Jesse Chan was second in 55-meter hurdles. Brandon Smith was third and Rob Heebner fourth in the pole vault. Mike Stanley finished fourth in the 3,200 meters. MHS’ 4×400 finished second. Nick Tinsley was second to Weimer in the boys high jump.
Fiona Paladino won the 55-meter hurdles, the high jump at 5-foot-4 and was third in the 55-meter dash as the Cougar girls placed fourth. Jill Kelly was second in the 1,600 meters in 5:33. Jenny Veith was fourth in the 800. Tracey Prentice and Julia Saltsman placed fourth and fifth in the pole vault respectively. Elizabeth Andreassen was fourth in the high jump.
COLLEGE
Marcia Voigt
The Montgomery High graduate is averaging 8.3 points and 2.5 assists per game for the Amherst College women’s basketball team, which took an 11-0 record into its winter break. Voigt, a sophomore, has played in all 11 games, five as a starter this season.
Voigt had a season-high 21 points in a win over Eastern Connecticut in early December. As a freshman she played in 33 games and averaged 7.9 points per game for the Lord Jeffs.
Victoria Cassidy
The Princeton High graduate won the 400-yard individual medley, finished third in the 500 freestyle, fifth in the 200 backstroke, and was 12th in the 100 backstroke to help the University of Maryland women’s swim team to a first-place finish at the Terrapin Cup.
Cassidy, a freshman, was also part of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay. Maryland will swim against Rutgers on Saturday in Annapolis, Md.
