Elks Hoop Shoot
Friday, Jan. 7 The New Egypt Lodge Hoop Shoot will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at New Egypt Middle School. Registration starts at 6:30.
The free-throw-shooting contest is for kids ages 8 to 13, as of April 1, 2011. There are boys/girls groups for ages 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Winners go on to district and state competitions.

Parade fundraiser
Saturday, Jan. 8 The Robbinsville Irish Heritage Association will hold a Robbinsville St. Patrick’s Day Parade tricky tray fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall, 2419 Kuser Road, Hamilton.
In addition to tricky tray items available for bidding, a 50/50 raffle will be held. Admission is $6, which includes a sheet of 20 tickets. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. This is an adults only event.

The Robbinsville Irish Heritage Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of Irish culture and history in central New Jersey. The RIHA sponsors and conducts the annual Robbinsville St. Patrick’s Day parade, which will be on March 19, 2011.
Christmas tree pickup
Monday, Jan. 10 Millstone Township will pick up residents’ Christmas trees that are placed at curbside, next to your driveway. Limit one tree per household. No wreaths, trimmings or lights will be accepted.

MV regulations for agriculture
Monday, Jan. 10 The Millstone Township Agricultural Advisory Council will sponsor a seminar, “Motor Vehicle Regulations for Agriculture,” presented by Karen Kritz, of the state Department of Agriculture.
The seminar will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal meeting room at 215 Millstone Road. Light refreshments will be served between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 11 Robbinsville Township will offer a free rabies clinic for dogs and cats from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the township Public Works Garage, 56 Robbinsville-Allentown Road.

Elks fish fry
Friday, Jan. 14 New Egypt Elks will hold a fish fry from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Elks lodge, 105 Lakewood Road, New Egypt.
Three-piece fish dinner, $10; two-piece fish dinner, $9; three-piece chicken dinner, $9; two-piece chicken dinner, $8; all children’s dinners, $5. All dinners include all-you-can-eat salad, cole slaw, rolls, dessert and beverage. Take-out is available.

Family Fun Day
Saturday, Jan. 15 The sixth annual Family Fun Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the New Egypt Elks Lodge, 111 Lakewood Road.
The event, sponsored by the Plumsted Township Alcohol and Drug Alliance, the New Egypt Elks and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Ocean, is an opportunity for parents and children to have fun while reinforcing family values and learning to become stronger families.
Among the activities planned: create a family shield; make your own family tree; design a treasure map. Receive gift cards and door prizes.
Baby-sitting will be available for younger children.
