Police reunited a Monroe Township woman with her Siberian husky after it ran off after being let out of its home and ended up in South Brunswick.
The dog, which police described as “friendly and well trained,” was spotted walking along Dunhams Corner Road in the early morning hours Saturday by a passing motorist, according to Sgt. James Ryan.
”A passerby saw the dog running on the road,” Sgt. Ryan said.
The concerned driver called police to report the apparently lost canine.
Officers took the dog back to the station and alerted neighboring departments they had found the animal in case it was lost, Sgt. Ryan said. Sunday, the owner and dog were reunited, Sgt. Ryan said.
”A Monroe resident came in to claim the dog,” Sgt. Ryan said. “The owner said she let the dog out, and it ran off.”
Police did not release the name of the dog’s owner.
