Burlington County Clerk Timothy D. Tyler plans for a day of weddings on Monday, Feb. 14, to commemorate St. Valentines Day.
"We are reviving a tradition for the office," said Mr. Tyler. "With the cooperation of the staff and the Friends of Smithville Mansion, we are looking forward to another visit to this historic location."
The county clerk performed a series of ceremonies on Dec. 23 when the mansion was decorated for the holiday season.
Weddings will be performed by appointment, with the first wedding at 10 a.m. Ceremonies will be scheduled until 4 p.m. There are a limited number of appointments available.
Couples interested in a Valentine’s Day wedding should contact the office at (609) 265-5122 by Friday, Feb. 4, to ensure an appointment is available. The couple will need to obtain a marriage license from the town in which either of the parties resides. It takes 72 hours to obtain the license, so it cannot be left until the last minute.
The county clerk regularly performs wedding ceremonies for Burlington County residents and persons posted to local military facilities.
Mr. Tyler performed over 200 ceremonies in 2010.
