Bake sale aids youth villages

A bake sale at Temple Beth-El, 67 Route 206, netted more than $300 to benefit the Yemin Orde Youth Villages in Israel.
Yemin Orde is an institution that aids at-risk youth with counseling, food, shelter and education.
Recent wildfires in Israel caused a lot of destruction in these villages, and the money raised will help them rebuild and meet the immediate needs of the children they serve.
The Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren counties matched the donation, dollar-for-dollar, making a total of $600 sent to Yemin Orde.
The bake sale was sponsored by Temple Beth-El’s Social Action Committee in conjunction with the Hebrew School’s fifth-grade classes. Students and many temple members baked an assortment of treats for the sale.
After the sale, the amount of baked goods that remained were donated to Agape House, a homeless shelter in Somerville, the Somerset Youth Shelter, which shelters homeless teens in Bridgewater, and SHIP, an organization that provides food, medical and other services to the needy in Somerset County.
Temple Beth-El is a Reform Jewish congregation that numbers more than 450 households and offers a variety of cultural, educational, social and spiritual opportunities to its members and to the greater New Jersey Jewish community.
