On Saturday, the Bordentown Regional High School wrestling team will be conducting a collection of items for our heroes who have been fighting for our freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The wrestlers are hosting a home quad meet and will start wrestling at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will go until approximately 2 p.m. The Scotties will be wrestling Burlington City, Burlington Twp. and Pemberton. The wrestlers are requesting that you bring an item for our servicemen and women overseas, such as new white t-shirts, new white socks, non-perishable food snack items, word puzzles, magazines, newspapers, etc.
The wrestlers will be boxing up these items next week and writing letters to our heroes to be placed in the boxes. The booster club will be holding a Trivia Nite/Gift Auction fundraising event that evening to support both the High School Wrestling Program and the Youth Wrestling Program to be held at Hope Hose firehouse at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
The wrestlers will also be collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantry at the remaining home matches – Jan. 19 at 6 p.m., Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. and Feb. 12th at 9 a.m. They will then be boxing up the donations and delivering to the local food pantry.
The wrestlers will also be having a "Pink Out" in honor of breast cancer on Wednesday, Jan. 19. So wear something pink and come out and support this cause.
If you know of a specific serviceman or woman who would like to receive a box of goodies while serving overseas, please contact Debbie Mallard at (609) 306-8461.
