Planning Board members Paul Penna and David Maffei were elected to one-year terms as the board chairman and vice chairman, respectively, at the board’s annual reorganization meeting Monday night.
Several newly appointed Planning Board members were sworn into office by attorney David Roskos.
Kim Taylor was sworn into office for a four-year term as a regular member and Doris Weisberg was sworn in for a two-year term as an alternate member.
Mayor Greg Puliti, Township Councilman Jim Kownacki and Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun were sworn into office for one-year terms.
The mayor or a designee serves on the Planning Board. Mr. Kownacki is Township Council’s liaison to the board and Mr. Krawczun is the township staff representative to the board.
The Planning Board appointed Philip Caton, of Clarke Caton & Hintz, to be its planning consultant. The firm is based in Trenton.
Mr. Roskos, of the Trenton law firm of Sterns & Weinroth, was named to serve as the board’s attorney and Eric Zwerling, of the Noise Consultancy LLC, of Flemington, was named to be its noise consultant. The noise consultant monitors the sound emissions of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. research facility.
James Kochenour, of Arora & Associates, was appointed as the board’s traffic consultant. The firm is based in Lawrence. John H. Rea, of the Manasquan-based firm of McDonough & Rea, was named as its special traffic consultant for applications which may present a conflict of interest for Mr. Kochenour.
Sara Summiel was named as recording secretary and Municipal Engineer James Parvesse was appointed to be the Planning Board’s engineer and in-house secretary.
In other business, three applications that were set to be heard by the Planning Board Monday night were postponed at the request of the applicants in order to meet with the township’s professional staff for additional review. The applications – for a cell tower at 960 Spruce Street near the Trenton Farmers Market, a cell tower at 220 Bakers Basin Road, and preliminary final site plan approval for Britton Industries on Basin Road – will be heard at the Planning Board’s Feb. 7 meeting.
