A Trenton woman was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop Jan. 3 on Washington Boulevard.
Police said a patrol stopped the vehicle about 1 a.m. because it had tinted front windows. Upon approaching the driver side of the vehicle, the officer detected evidence that narcotics may be present, police said. After speaking with the driver and passenger during his investigation, the officer determined the vehicle would be impounded and that a criminal search warrant would be applied for.
A criminal search warrant was obtained the next day, and a search conducted by Patrolman William Swanhart, who had made the traffic stop, and Detective Bryan Boccanfuso resulted in numerous bags of marijuana being recovered from the passenger’s handbag, police said. Most of the bags were packaged consistent with narcotics sales, police said. In addition, a small bottle of pepper spray was recovered, police said.
The driver, Michael Kelly, 25, of Hamilton, was issued a summons for tinted windows, police said.

A patrol responded to the area of 121 Hankins Road about 4:40 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, the patrol officer saw one vehicle in a ditch. During his investigation, the officer detected evidence that the driver, Mr. Doyle, was intoxicated, police said.
While attempting to perform field sobriety test, Mr. Doyle started to experience medical problems and an ambulance was called to transport him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, police said. He later was charged with several motor vehicle violations and released to the hospital staff pending a court appearance.
