The South Brunswick American Legion Post 401 is sponsoring a Safety Essay Contest and Patriotic Line Drawing Contest. Deadline for submission is Jan. 18.
The essay contest is open to students in sixth, seventh or eighth grade. The topic of the essay is “What Safety Means to Me.” The essay must be not less than 300 words or more than 450 words, and may be written on a computer, typewriter or by hand, as long as it is legible. Coverage of topic, grammar, neatness, spelling, originality and general appearance will be factors in the judging. The contest is open to students attending a South Brunswick school, and the essay must also be certified by the child’s teacher.
The Patriotic Line Drawing Contest is open to students in grades nine through 12. The drawing must be on 8½-by-11- inch white paper. All lines must be clear within the drawing and must be in black pen or marker (lines should not bleed through the paper), allowing the drawing to be reproduced and colored in at a later date. Artwork should not be signed on front. All artwork must be certified and submitted by the student’s teacher to Post 401, P.O. Box 82, 148 Major Road, Monmouth Junction.
