A classroom was damaged but no one was injured when a car crashed through a brick wall of the YMCA building on East Mountain Road on Tuesday morning.
Yanlin Wang-Fischer, 46, of Hillsborough, was attempting to park her Volvo in a parking space on the west side of the building about 7:30 a.m. when the car went over the curb and through the exterior brick wall of the building, police said.
The car encroached about 3 feet through the wall and into a room that the Somerset Valley YMCA’s Hillsborough facility uses as a classroom as part of its day-care program, police said. The room was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Neither Ms. Wang-Fischer nor her 5-year-old daughter, who was a passenger in the car, was injured, and no one in the building was hurt, police said.
Police were continuing to investigate the crash and no charges had been filed.
Township Building Department officials determined the building’s structure was safe, and that only the one classroom was unavailable for use, pending completion of necessary repairs, police said.
