Rec wrestlers battle Ridge

Manville Rec wrestling hosted Ridge on Saturday.
Nick Lombardino at 50 pounds came out strong and with a takedown and near fall took a 4-0 lead into the second period. Going into the third he led 6-0. With a quick escape and then a takedown he had his pin at 2:57 of the match.
At 53 pounds Tim Whitenight got the forfeit win for another six Manville points. Shane Demeter remained unbeaten with a 42-second pin at 67 pounds.
Jack Lombardino at 73 pounds had a hard-fought 6-5 win. With two takedowns in the first period he took a 4-1 lead into the second. He still led 4-3 as the third period started. With a reversal to make it 6-3, Lombardino then held off his man for the 6-5 Manville win.
Conor Riggs showed how dominant he can be while pinning his opponent. With a takedown and a couple of near falls Riggs took a 10-2 lead into the third. He then pinned his man at the 2:36 mark in the third.
Blair Sauerhoefer took a forfeit at 95 pounds and GianCarlo Hernandez took the forfeit at 105 pounds to close out the match.
In other matches, Alex Merunka dominated his opponent. With two takedowns in the first Merunka took a 4-1 lead into the second. With an escape and another takedown he led 7-1. He closed out his man with two more takedowns in the third to win this 11-4.
