SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Burglary suspects sought

By Mary Brienza, Staff Writer
Police are seeking burglars who struck a home Monday on Raymond Road that may have netted them several thousand dollars in jewelry, Sgt. James Ryan said.
Sgt. Ryan said the unidentified victim came home and found the items missing, and called the police at about 1:35 p.m. Monday.
The thevies went into the master bedroom after “kicking open” one of the side doors of the residence sometime between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. when the victim arrived home, police said.
Sgt. Ryan said that at about the same time, a young man rang a doorbell at a Georges Road residence offering an estimate for cleaning a rug, and gave the resident a business card.
According to police, the resident reported that there was allegedly a second man in a snow parka with his hood up standing across the street.
Sgt. Ryan said that resident reported that the man tried to enter the home, and asked questions about the size of the residence.
The man apparently left after the resident sent him away, taking the business card with him, Sgt. Ryan said.
Police identified the young man ringing the doorbell as a light skinned Hispanic or African American male.
It is unknown if the two events are connected, and police are looking to find out if the incidents are related, Sgt. Ryan said.
Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who has been in a similar situation to contact the police at 732-329-4646.
