Winter Read Like a Champion Program at SCLS
Bridgewater, NJ— Young readers who have library cards from the Somerset County Library System (SCLS) can participate in contests for tickets to family events this winter, as a reward for reading books.  Sponsored by the New Jersey State Library, SCLS is one of ten libraries chosen state-wide to participate in the winter “Read Like a Library Champion”.  The program begins immediately and will run through February 24, 2011.
The “Read Like a Library Champion” program is a community based public awareness campaign featuring role models encouraging reading and educating the public about the important role New Jersey libraries have in transforming the lives of their customers.  The winter segment of the program will reward 25 readers state-wide with four-packs of
tickets to each of the featured family-friendly events at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
Disney on Ice January 27th through 30th, Monster Jam on February 4th and 5th, the Harlem Globetrotters on February 19th and 21st, and the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus from March 2nd through 13th, are the ticket package contests that young readers can enter to win by logging the author and name of a book they have recently finished.  Parental permission is needed for readers under the age of 18 in order to participate.
Entries can be found through links on the home page of the Somerset County Library System at http://www.somerset.lib.nj.us/, along with the home pages of the teen’s and children’s pages within the SCLS site.  Additional information about the “Read Like a Library Champion” program along with contest entries and information can also be found at http://njlibrarychampions.org/contests_and_events.
