Qwanza Harper scored 19 points and Hightstown used a strong first half to take a 50-39 win over Princeton Day School on Jan. 5. Sam Lopez added 14 for the Rams.
Hightstown made it three straight with a 62-54 win over Hamilton in a big test for both teams last Friday. Ryan Borden had a career-high 17 points, while Lopez added 15, Cole Fusik had 11 on three 3-pointers and Harper tabbed eight.
The Rams were startled by Princeton on Tuesday as the Little Tigers took a 57-46 victory. Lopez had 18 to lead the Rams, who trailed 44-26 entering the final quarter. GIRLS BASKETBALL
Erin Sobkowiak tallied 20 points but it wasn’t enough as the Rams dropped a 55-34 decision to Hamilton last Friday.

The Rams dropped a 38-33 decision to Steinert on Jan. 5, despite getting pins from Fabian Tobito (130 pounds), Joey DeCristofaro (171), Marcus Lawrence (189) and Aaron Hernandez (215). Earning decisions for the Rams were Sean LeBlanc (112), Chris Boyle (135) and Gavin Edgerton (160).
In a Saturday quad meet, the Rams beat Ewing, 34-32, crushed Notre Dame, 51-21, and was edged by Robbinsville, 33-31.
In the Ewing win, the Rams got a pin from DeCristofaro, a major decision from LeBlanc and decisions from Johnny Cox (125) and Josh Parkhurst (145) and forfeit wins from Nicholas Mitchell, Lawrence and Hernandez.
Against Notre Dame, LeBlanc, Kevin Medina (119), Mitchell, Edgerton, Hernandez and Angel Guzman (hwt) while Cox, Boyle and Lawrence won via decision.
In the loss to Robbinsville, DeCristofaro and Hernandez pinned, while Guzman, LeBlanc, Medina, Lawrence, Tobito and Boyle (major) won by decision. BOYS SWIMMING
Hightstown fell to West Windsor-Plainsboro South, 98-72, last Thursday but got a big day from the Vitabile and Hubbard brothers once again. Scott Vitabile, won the 100 fly (59.8), Steve Vitabile won the 500 free (5:32.19), Eric Hubbard won the 100 breast (1:10.84), while Eric and Brian Hubbard were on the 200 medley relay team with Bobby Raymond and Gideon Van Kampen (1:51.95), and the two Hubbards and two Vitabiles teamed to win the 400 free relay (3:48.33).
Second-place finishes came from Scott Vitabile (200 free) and Raymond (50 free); while thirds came from Steve Vitabile (200 IM), Raymond (100 free) and Brian Hubbard (100 back).
Kalick’s Kicker Flippers got back on the winning side Tuesday with a 96-65 win over Ewing as B. Hubbard won the 200 free (2:22.57), Scott Vitabile won the 200 IM (2:37.57) and 100 fly (1:09.33), while Raymond claimed the 50 free (22.29) and Alex Glasser won the 500 free (5:03.87). Both Hubbards, Van Kampen and Raymond won the 200 medley relay (2:09.26), Brian Hubbard, both Vitabiles and Raymond won the 200 free relay (1:48.99) and Van Kampen, Glasser, Eric Hubbard and Scott Vitabile won the 400 free relay (4:32.92).
Second-place finishes came from Van Kampen (200 free, 100 fly), Steve Vitabile (200 IM), Glasser (100 free), Eric Hubbard (500 free) and Justin Bianchini (100 breast), while a third came from Brian Hubbard (50 free). GIRLS SWIMMING
The Rams dropped a 117-53 decision to West Windsor-Plainsboro South last Thursday despite two first-place finishes by Jen Lauer in the 500 free (6:02.01) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.64). Steph Lauer and Sarah LeChard finished 2-3 in the 200 IM, while other third-place finishes came from Aziza Ahmed (50 free, 100 back), Steph Lauer (100 fly) and Colleen Murphy (100 free).
The Rams took a 104-56 victory over Ewing Tuesday, as Murphy won the 100 fly (1:12.87) and 100 free, took second in the 200 free and was on the winning 200 free relay team with Rena Blank, Jen Lauer and Brittany Saleteed. Ahmed won the 50 free (31.41), Blank won the 100 back (1:29.22) and Jen Lauer won the 100 breast (1:29.1).
Second finishers included Steph Lauer (200 IM), Jolie Rizzo (50 free), Saleteed (100 fly, 100 free) and Jen Lauer (500 free) while taking third were Nicolette Hankh (200 free), Gauri Sadalgekar (200 IM, 500 free), Steph Lauer (100 fly) and Annastasia Lang (100 back). The Rams dropped an 84-29 decision to Lawrenceville Saturday despite first-place finishes by Hannah Foss in the 1600 (5:50), Lydia Walsh in the 400 (1:44.5) and Dana Obst in the shot (32-3 1/2).
