Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Ormsby celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at Princeton Care Center on Bunn Drive Dec. 8.
Kenneth William Ormsby and Belinda Shone were married on Dec. 8, 1945, in the First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown (Gloucester County).
Mr. Ormsby had served in the Army Air Force during World War II, earning a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and marksmanship medals. Mrs. Ormsby was one of the early telephone switchboard operators. Together, they raised their four daughters: Linda, Barbara, Karen and Janice. They were both very active in their church, serving as deacons, trustees and Sunday School teachers.
Mr. Ormsby worked for Camden Forge after the war, then for RCA for most of his adult life. He was a volunteer firefighter. Mrs. Ormsby was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader as well as a PTA officer in her daughters’ schools.
Mr. Ormsby has a younger brother, Jack Ormsby, living in Williamstown. Mrs. Orsmby has a younger brother, Howard Shone, living in North Carolina.
The couple has hree grandsons, Bill March, Scott March and Kevin Friis, and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Billy and Brett March. The couple moved to Princeton Care Center in April 2009 to be close to their daughter Barbara Friis, a resident of West Windsor (Princeton Junction).
On hand to celebrate the happy occasion were daughters Linda March and Barbara Friis, son-in-law Bill March, and Princeton Care Center staff members.
