PDS athletics
Timothy Yeates Williams, currently Director of Athletics at Louisville Collegiate School in Louisville, Ky. Has been named the new Director of Athletics at Princeton Day School. His appointment begins July 1, 2011. After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in Psychology, Williams earned his M.S. in Exercise and Sports Science at University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
Since 2002, Williams has been at the Louisville Collegiate School, where he serves as Director of Athletics, overseeing and directing all aspects of lower, middle, and upper school athletics at a K-12 independent school of 650 students. In addition, served as the varsity boys basketball coach.
Jason Garrett
The Princeton University graduate has been named the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Garrett, a former quarterback at Princeton, had been the team’s interim head coach for the final eight games of the season, going 5-3. He had spent the past three season’s as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator.
Garrett, who is just the eighth head coach in the history of the Dallas Cowboys franchise, plans to also serve as the Cowboys offensive coordinator in addition to his duties as head coach.
RESULTS
Samantha Asch
The Princeton resident won the 18-and-under girls singles and doubles tennis tournaments in the Masters level tournament played at Tenniszone in Quakertown, Pa. Asch defeated Julia Casselbury of Lititz, Pa. 6-0, 6-3 in Sunday’s final.
Asch, a sophomore at Princeton Day School, also teamed with Amy Zhu of Wilmington, Del. to win the doubles tournament. Asch finished the year as the number one ranked player in the middles states 16 and 18 and under divisions.
PU hoops
The Princeton University women’s basketball team opened Ivy League play with a 56-45 win over Penn on Jan. 8 at Jadwin Gym. Senior Addie Micir, who had scored her 1,000th career point earlier in the week, led the Tigers with 18 points.
Princeton improved to 12-3 with the win. The Tigers are now off for their exam break until Jan. 28 when they will play at Brown.
COLLEGE
Kristina Kalibat
The Princeton High graduate was second in the 1650 (10:40.8) and third in the 200 backstroke (2:16.29) as the Wagner College women’s swim team dropped a 179-100 decision to Rutgers University. Kalibat was also part of the Seahawks winning 400-yard freestyle relay team.
A day later, Kalibat won the 500 free (5:20.05) in a 158-112 loss to Columbia. Wagner is back in action on Saturday at Rhode Island.
