Dance master
Princeton University’s Program in Dance is welcoming Bill T. Jones, the internationally acclaimed director and choreographer of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and a 2010 Kennedy Center Honors recipient, for a talk and screening at 3 p.m. in the James M. Stewart ’32 Theater at the Lewis Center for the Arts, located at 185 Nassau St. The event is free and open to the public.
Mr. Jones will discuss the origin and evolution of "Continuous Replay" (1978), a seminal dance work that will be performed by Princeton students in February. Initially created as a solo by Arnie Zane (1947-1988)) during the postmodern period of the ’70’s, subsequently developed into a duet, and finally re-conceived as a group work in the ’90’s by Mr. Jones, "Continuous Replay’s" history reflects the changing concerns and values of two dancemakers across three decades. A screening of the much-celebrated performance of "Continuous Replay" at City Center’s 2004 Fall for Dance Festival will allow audience members to fully experience the work.
Following the lecture and screening, Mr. Jones will conduct an open rehearsal of "Continuous Replay" with Princeton students starting at 4:45 p.m. in the Patricia and Ward Hagan ’48 Dance Studio at 185 Nassau. The rehearsal is free and open to the public. There will be a brief reception between the events.

The situation in Afghanistan
Matthew Hoh, a former Marine Corps captain in Iraq who later became a State Department Consultant in Afghanistan, will speak about the conflict at 7:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, located at 50 Cherry Hill Road. The event is being presented by the Princeton-based Coalition for Peace Action.
In September 2009 Mr. Hoh became the first U.S. official to publicly resign in protest of U.S. policy in Afghanistan. His resignation was featured in The Washington Post, as well as other media. Mr. Hoh is now director of the Afghanistan Study Group, which last August issued a report which was endorsed by 40 top experts titled "A New Way Forward: Rethinking U.S. Strategy in Afghanistan."
There will be a Q&A session following Mr. Hoh’s presentation.
